My street's drainage fix showed me why night shifts aren't always smart
They've been digging up pipes on my block after dark to avoid traffic. Everyone says night work is better for busy areas. But the crew next door messed up a trench depth twice because of poor light. I saw it happen last Thursday when they hit a water line. We need to stop pushing for overnight jobs just for convenience.

Wait they actually hit a water line? That's next level bad. So much for the smarter night shift idea.

Yeah, hitting a water main is a whole different league of mess compared to fiber or power. That's not just a service outage, it's a full-on geyser and a potential sinkhole in the making. The night shift crew probably thought less traffic meant easier digging, but clearly nobody checked the utility maps. Now they've got a flooded site, angry neighbors, and a bill that'll make their boss cry.

Our crew uses a vacuum excavator now, costs more upfront but saved us three times last year.
