TIL about a tiny island in Maine that took me 3 hours to find
Honestly, I was trying to get to Eagle Island in Casco Bay last summer. The map said it was simple, but the local ferry schedule was basically a handwritten note in a coffee shop window. I spent a full afternoon driving between three different docks asking around before a fisherman finally pointed me to the right spot. It was totally worth it for the empty beaches and old fort, but man, that search was a mission. Has anyone else found a place that was weirdly hard to actually reach?

Wasn't there a story about some hidden hot spring in Colorado like that? You had to ask at a specific gas station for directions.

Yeah, swear I saw a reddit thread about that exact spot. Some old guy at a station off I-70 would draw you a map on a napkin. Place was basically just a muddy hole in the woods.

Oh man, that sounds exactly like the kind of adventure I'd mess up. I'd finally find the right gas station, get all nervous, and then ask for directions to the "secret warm puddle" or something. They'd just stare at me until I left. I love the idea of those places but I'm pretty sure I'm not cool enough to get the password.
