I finally hiked the full trail at Eagle Rock and saw the weirdest sign

It was on the loop near the summit in Sedona, Arizona. Right next to a big cactus, there was a bright yellow sign that said 'Caution: Aggressive Squirrels. Do Not Feed or Make Eye Contact.' I'm not kidding! I stood there for a minute trying to figure out if it was a joke. Has anyone else seen this, or did I just find the one trail with a squirrel mafia?

Actually those signs are totally necessary, I've seen those squirrels go after people's snacks. They get bold when hikers feed them, so the warning makes perfect sense. It's basic safety, not a joke at all.

My cousin's brand new Patagonia backpack got a hole chewed right through it at a state park near Flagstaff. Those squirrels are basically organized thieves with a network.

Wait, you think that sign is weird? I read a whole park ranger blog post about how squirrels in tourist spots are basically tiny criminals. They learn that backpacks mean food, and they will chew through fabric to get it. That sign is probably there because someone got their lunch stolen and complained.
