The phrase "points to a forgotten battle site" could be reading too much into one object. Plenty of old metal bits are from daily life, like broken equipment or tossed trash. Without more finds, it's probably not a battle site.

That phrase "points to a forgotten battle site" is exactly the problem. One piece of old metal does not mean a battle happened there. It could be from daily life like you said. Maybe it's just scrap someone threw away. Without a lot more proof, it's not a big deal. We should not jump to wild ideas so fast.

Scott makes a good point about that one piece of metal. I saw a show where they found a single old sword in a field and everyone got excited, but it turned out to be from a lost shipment. You really do need a whole bunch of stuff in one spot, like bullets or broken gear, to say for sure it was a battle. Jumping to big conclusions from one find just isn't smart. It's better to wait for more proof.
