Why I stopped repotting my plants every spring

I know most plant guides say to repot yearly, but I think that's too much and can hurt your plants. Last spring, I skipped repotting my snake plant because I was busy, and it was fine. Then I tried it with my pothos and philodendron, just leaving them in their pots even when roots showed at the bottom. They kept growing strong, and my pothos even put out longer vines than before. I believe a snug pot makes plants work harder to survive, so they grow better. Now I only repot if the soil gets bad or growth really stops. It's saved me from buying new pots and mixing soil all the time. Maybe try it with a tough plant like a zz plant and see for yourself.

Tried that with my monstera and it doubled in size this year.

My neighbor's aloe vera has been in the same pot for five years. She just pulls off the baby plants when they get too crowded. It looks healthier than my repotted ones.
