I ran a local model on my laptop versus a cloud API for a coding project

The local one took 45 minutes and crashed twice, but the cloud version gave me a full script in under 3 seconds. Has anyone else made the switch and found it just completely changes your workflow?

Wait, you can run models locally? I thought you needed a supercomputer or something. My laptop can barely handle a web browser with too many tabs open. The idea of it trying to run an AI model is actually kind of funny. It would probably just make a sad noise and shut off.
