Ran into a friend at the Denver airport who said AI art is just 'fancy copy-paste'
He argued it can't create anything truly new, but I showed him a piece I generated last week that remixed three different art styles into something I've never seen. Has anyone else had to defend the creative potential of generative models to a skeptic?

Wait, isn't that like saying a painter is just copying what they see? I mean, the AI is putting things together in new ways, that's the whole point. Your remix example is exactly that.

Isn't it funny how every new thing gets the same old fear? People just hate change, then eventually they can't imagine life without it. Same cycle, different tech.
