Appreciation post: I finally watched 'Monster' after putting it off for a decade
I always thought a 74-episode slow-burn thriller would be a slog, but I binged it in two weeks and it messed me up. The way it builds tension without any flashy powers or fights is something most shows today just don't try. Has anyone else had a show they avoided for ages totally prove them wrong?

Ugh, same thing happened to me with "The Wire". Kept hearing it was a masterpiece but the runtime scared me off.

Oh man, the first season of The Wire is a slow burn for sure (it really takes its time setting up all those pieces). But once it clicks around episode four or five, you get totally hooked on how all the stories connect. The payoff for sticking with it is honestly worth every minute.
