Debate: Is sub or dub more faithful to the original? A critic changed how I watch now.
I used to be all sub, no question. But a guy on a forum pointed out that sometimes the dub script actually clarifies jokes or cultural references that get lost in quick subtitles. He mentioned a specific scene in Cowboy Bebop where the dub line hit harder than the literal translation. Now I watch both versions for shows, pick which scene works better. It's a split camp, some say sub is always the pure intent. What side do you land on, and has a specific example ever made you switch?
