Appreciation post: That time my DVD collection saved a Friday night
My streaming went down hard last Tuesday during a storm, and I grabbed my old Cowboy Bebop box set from the shelf. Has anyone else had a physical copy save a night when the internet crapped out?

Man, that brings back memories! I had a similar thing happen when my power went out during a big snowstorm a few years back. I ended up digging out my old "Firefly" DVDs (the ones with that weird cardboard packaging that always falls apart), and honestly, that night was way better than any streaming binge I've had since. There's something about having to physically switch discs that makes you commit to a show, you know? Plus, all those bonus features and commentaries are a goldmine nobody talks about anymore. Made me wish I still had my old "Buffy" box sets, even if they took up half a shelf.

lol that Cowboy Bebop set sounds like a lifesaver, nothing beats physical media when the internet dies.

Get what you mean about committing to a show with physical media. There's no clicking "next episode" on autopilot when you have to get up and swap discs. Reminds me how people used to just sit through entire album sides on vinyl without skipping tracks, or watch whatever was on TV because changing the channel took effort. The small barriers actually made me pay more attention to what I was watching.
