Got into a heated argument about filler arcs and ended up citing the wrong series entirely.

My passionate defense of Naruto's pacing (which I admit I haven't fully watched) completely fell apart when I mixed up storylines from One Piece.

Yeah but that's kind of what @val281 means... some filler builds out the world even if it's slow. I get series mixed up all the time when I'm behind though.

Are you actually claiming those filler episodes mattered? That whole subplot with the random sand village ninja felt completely unnecessary. It's a stretch to say any of that added to the story.
