I spent 3 hours looking for an anime I saw once in a 2009 forum post

I saw a screenshot of this mecha anime on an old forum thread from like 2009 and spent an entire Saturday trying to track down the title. Three hours of digging through obscure image boards and wiki pages later I finally found it was a one-off OVA from the 80s. Has anyone else wasted a whole day hunting down a show based on a single blurry image?

Wow, three hours? That's dedication. I once spent an afternoon trying to find a 10-second clip from a 90s cartoon that turned out to be a fever dream. I was convinced it was real but my buddy kept telling me I made it up. Turned out it was a French-Canadian dub of a show that never aired in the US. Felt like a detective solving a cold case.
