Remember when anime discussions were actually about the story?

I used to spend hours breaking down character arcs and plot themes in forums back around 2015. Now it feels like every thread is just people arguing over which waifu is best or complaining about filler episodes. What happened to talking about why a show made you feel something? Am I the only one who misses real conversation about the actual writing?

Huh, I actually see it a little differently. I still find plenty of threads where people dig into writing and character development, you might just be looking in the wrong corners.
