Thought battle shounen was just yelling and power ups until my cousin made me sit through 12 episodes of Hunter x Hunter
I always wrote off long running shounen as filler heavy junk, so when my cousin in San Antonio kept pushing Hunter x Hunter I only gave in to shut him up. He said just get through the Yorknew City arc and if you still hate it I will drop it, so I did and the Phantom Troupe stuff completely flipped my view. Now I am 80 episodes deep and mad at myself for skipping shows like this for years based on episode counts alone. Anyone got a shounen they swore off forever and then actually ended up loving?
