Walked out of a 12 episode marathon at 3am and realized I couldn't name a single character
Two weeks ago I decided to finally clear my watchlist, so I sat down Friday night and binged a full 12 episode season in one go. Somewhere around episode 7 my brain just checked out. I was still watching but I couldn't tell you what happened in the last three episodes, and when the finale rolled credits at almost 3am I realized I couldn't name a single side character without looking them up. The next morning I tried to tell my roommate about the show and I basically summarized the first two episodes and then went blank. What got me was that I actually liked it, or at least I think I did. So I rewatched the whole thing over the next week, one or two episodes a night, and it felt like a totally different show. There was a whole subplot I had completely missed and a character death that should have hit hard just slid right past me the first time. Now I'm wondering how many shows I've ruined for myself this way. Do you all have a rule for how many episodes you'll watch in one sitting, or do you just plow through and hope it sticks?
My buddy did the same thing with a book series, read all seven in like two weeks and then couldn't tell me what happened in book five. He went back and read it slow and said it was like reading a new book. Some stuff just needs room to sit in your head before you move on.
