Built a raised garden bed and the frame collapsed after the first heavy rain
I was out back in Portland last weekend staring at my crumpled cedar boards thinking why didn't I use galvanized screws instead of cheap nails, has anyone else had a build fall apart on them and how did you fix it without starting over?

My 2x4 frame lasted exactly one storm before it looked like a sad pretzel on the ground. I feel your pain, seriously. I fixed mine by drilling new holes and using those fat 3 inch deck screws, plus I added some metal corner brackets at the joints. For the boards that split, I just sistered new pieces alongside them with construction adhesive. If your soil hasn't shifted too bad, you might be able to jack it back into square with a car jack or some scrap wood. Worst case, you can dig a trench around the whole thing and pour a quick concrete footing to lock it in place.

Galvanized screws and corner brackets from day one are a must. Framer told me that years ago and I learned the hard way too.
