Poured concrete base vs. gravel base for a 10x12 shed? I'm torn after my last one sank.

I built a shed in my backyard in Ohio about 3 years ago. Went with a gravel base because it was cheaper and everyone said drainage would be better. But after two harsh winters that thing shifted almost 4 inches to the east. Now I'm starting a new 10x12 build and I keep going back and forth. Concrete is solid but costs way more and if I mess up the pour I'm stuck with it. Gravel is easier but I don't want to level it again next spring. What did you guys go with on your sheds and how did it hold up long term?

My neighbor Dave saw me digging up a patch to put in a new raised bed and just casually said 'you know the sun hits that spot for maybe 3 hours a day, right?'. I honestly never even paid attention to sun patterns in my yard until he pointed it out. I laid a 40 foot walkway in my backyard last spring and by September the edges were all shifting and weeds were pushing through. A buddy who does hardscaping told me to sweep in Gator Dust polymeric sand and wet it down. That stuff hardened up like concrete between the joints and it hasn't budged since. Then my uncle who builds decks in Arizona showed me a 15 year old pergola he set with 12 inch sonotubes and 4x4 posts on gravel pads. Has anyone else found that building codes in your area are way stricter than what actually holds up?

Hit 200 bags of concrete mixing station this weekend and my back is mad

Been building a retaining wall in my side yard off and on for about 3 weeks now. It's not huge, maybe 30 feet long and 3 feet tall at the highest point. But I kept having to mix bags by hand in a wheelbarrow for the footer and caps. Last Saturday I looked at my pile of empty bags and counted 204. I started counting because my wife joked I was going to buy a new truck for the amount I spent. She wasn't far off, I think I dumped like $500 just on concrete. The funny thing is I never thought about the total until I saw all those bags stacked up. Made me wonder if anyone else has hit a weird milestone like that which made them step back and go "whoa". How many bags did your big project end up using?

My buddy who builds decks for a living looked at it and asked why I was using an impact driver on deck screws instead of just a regular drill. Cedar is way more expensive but it doesn't scorch your hands in the sun. Has anyone else found that pressure treated stuff gets painfully hot by noon?

Six months later the cedar looks almost new but the pine has split in three places and turned gray. My question is: does anyone stick with just one wood type after trying this mix, or am I overthinking the splitting?
