Neighbor's kid pointed at my chicken coop and said 'that's better than my bedroom'
Built a coop from scrap pallets in my backyard in Tulsa. Took about 40 bucks and two weekends. Made me realize sometimes the simple stuff hits different for people.

Man, that kid is onto something and I bet nobody's thinking about this: you gave that chicken coop a real roof. Not the kind that leaks when the AC unit freezes up or has those weird water stains from the neighbor's upstairs bathroom. Most bedrooms in cheap apartments have drywall that crumbles if you look at it wrong. Your coop probably has solid wood walls that actually block the wind and a floor that doesn't squeak when you step on it. Kids notice that stuff because they sleep right there on the ground hearing every draft and creak. Your chickens are living better than half the renters in this city and that's saying something.

Nodding along with this so hard. It's wild how a little bit of effort and some scrap can create something that feels more special than a whole room full of store-bought stuff. Kids are real good at cutting through all the noise and just seeing what's genuine. I bet that coop is cozy as hell compared to a generic bedroom with posters and a gaming chair. Good on you for building it yourself too, that adds a whole different energy to the space.
