Rant: My deck railing spacing is all wrong because I skimped on math

I was over at my neighbor's place last weekend and he was building a fence, mentioned he uses a 4-inch gap for everything because little kids can get their heads stuck in bigger gaps. That got me thinking about my deck railing I finished two months ago where I just eyeballed the spacing between balusters, and now I'm worried it's too wide to be safe. Anyone else rethink a build detail after hearing one random safety fact?

Yeah I had to go back and add more balusters to mine after learning that same thing.

Nothing like realizing the whole railing looks like a ladder because you spaced the balusters too far apart. I bet you were real happy to drag all those tools back out for round two. At least now you can see spaces between them from across the street, which is apparently the building code standard.
