That old timer who told me to use cedar for my raised garden beds was ABSOLUTELY right

Seven years ago I built 4 raised beds out of pressure treated pine because it was cheap. By year 3 they were falling apart. My neighbor who's been gardening since the 70s kept telling me to use cedar. I thought he was just being fancy. Finally rebuilt them last spring with cedar from a lumber yard down the road. Cost me like $180 more total but the damn things look brand new still. No rot, no warping, no nothing. Anyone else have one of those "I told you so" moments with backyard builds?

Old timer knew what he was talking about" lol yeah because clearly that fancy cedar was just trying to break your wallet not actually save your garden beds. Classic case of cheap now paying later.

Cheap now paying later" describes my entire approach to life honestly... I picked the bargain bin pressure treated wood once and now my raised beds look like a modern art installation of warped boards. Shoulda just listened to the old guy at the feed store.
