The fence guy in Bakersfield taught me to set posts in concrete, and now I'll never go back
I was building a 40 foot fence last March and my neighbor kept telling me to just tamp the dirt in, said it held fine for his gate. Then a guy at the lumber yard in Bakersfield saw my post hole digger and asked where my bags of concrete were, and when I said I wasn't using any he just laughed and walked off. Fast forward 6 months and my neighbor's gate posts are leaning 2 inches and mine are dead straight. Cost me an extra $60 in quikrete but I'd do it again every single time. Has anyone else had a post pull loose after a wet winter because they skipped the concrete?
