Finally found the perfect bad movie after a 3 month dry spell

I spent months scrolling through streaming garbage that was just boring, not fun bad. Last Friday my buddy Dave brought over a DVD of The Room from 2003 and we laughed so hard I nearly choked on my popcorn. The scene where Tommy Wiseau throws a football in slow motion had me crying for a solid 5 minutes. Anyone else got a go-to bad movie that never fails to deliver?

My buddy from film school put me onto Troll 2 for our next bad movie night

I was grabbing beers with a guy I went to high school with, Mark, who studied film in Austin. He said we're totally sleeping on Troll 2 because the acting is so bad it loops back around to hilarious. Has anyone else found a hidden gem like that where everyone just agrees to watch it and laugh?

Vent: The time I realized I was watching bad movies wrong

Wasted $35 on a movie called The Room 2 and it wasn't even the same kind of bad

I saw a DVD at a thrift store in Denver labeled The Room 2 and thought it would be a hilarious sequel to The Room, but it was some random indie drama about a guy losing his keys for 90 minutes. No bad acting, no weird line deliveries, just boring plain nothing that didn't even make us laugh. Has anyone else been tricked by a fake sequel that wasted your cash?

I finally hit 100 bad movies watched this year and I'm not sure how to feel about it. So I started tracking my Bad Movie Night viewings back in January just for fun, thinking I'd maybe get through 30 or 40. Last night I popped in "The Room" for probably the fifth time and realized my spreadsheet said I was at 99. That 100th one hit me harder than I expected. Most of them were absolute garbage like "Birdemic" and "Troll 2" but some were just weird enough to become favorites. I mean, I've spent so many evenings with friends throwing popcorn at the screen and yelling at characters. Has anyone else here ever counted up their bad movie total and gotten surprised by how many you've sat through just for laughs?

He said Wood was trying something new with the editing and sets on purpose and now I can't stop seeing it that way, anyone else have a bad movie they started viewing differently after talking to someone?

The big debate: Should bad movies be watched totally sober or slightly buzzed?

I watched The Room with a group last weekend and half of us were nursing beers while the other half were stone cold sober. The sober crowd got bored by minute 30 while the buzzed folks were dying laughing at the same awful scene. Which side works better for you when the movie is truly terrible?

Tried watching The Room with my girlfriend last weekend and she walked out 20 minutes in

We were about halfway through the famous rooftop scene when she turned to me and said 'this is just bad, not funny bad.' I tried to explain the whole so-bad-it's-good thing but she grabbed her phone and left for the bedroom. Any tips for getting someone who doesn't get bad movie humor to actually stick through one?

The 5 AM premiere showing I walked out of is getting a cult following and I don't get it

Last month I caught a midnight screening of Plan 9 From Outer Space at the Plaza Theater in Atlanta, and I swear I was the only person who wasn't laughing. Everyone around me was cracking up at the cardboard tombstones and bad dubbing, but I just felt bored. My buddy kept elbowing me going "isn't this hilarious" and I kept shrugging. I get that it's supposed to be so bad it's good, but to me it was just... dull. Like the acting is stiff, the plot makes no sense, and not in a fun way, in a boring way. Does anyone else have a so bad it's good movie that just flat out doesn't work for them? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

My neighbor Mike said something about The Room that stuck with me

I was complaining about the terrible acting in The Room and Mike said yeah, but every line lands like a bomb because nobody delivers it right. He pointed out the plastic spoons are just the tip of the iceberg, the whole movie runs on accidental poetry. Now I'm wondering if the worst acting actually makes bad movies better or if we just pretend it does.

The moment I realized I was watching bad movies wrong for years

I used to watch trash movies alone, taking notes on every plot hole and bad effect. My $7 thrift store VHS copy of The Room saved my movie night

I got tired of everyone picking the same five "so bad it's good" movies every week. You know, like Birdemic or Troll 2. So last month I dug through a thrift store in Portland and found a beat-up VHS of The Room for seven bucks. I popped it in expecting the usual disaster but the tracking was off and it glitched out halfway through. Honestly the random skipping and freeze frames made it way funnier than the actual movie. Cue the fire department came during our Birdemic watch party

We were 20 minutes into Birdemic last Friday when the smoke alarm went off from my roommate burning popcorn. Took us 45 minutes to shut it off because we couldn't find the reset button on the ceiling. Then by the time we got back to the movie, the bad CGI eagles were already dive bombing everyone and we missed half the dialog. Anyone else have their bad movie night get totally derailed by something dumb like that?

We were in my basement with 8 people watching Tommy Wiseau's masterpiece when the tape started skipping every 3 minutes, making the terrible acting even funnier since we couldn't tell what was real and what was the bad tape, has anyone else dealt with a bootleg that actually improved the experience?

Unpopular opinion: bad dubbing makes bad movies better, not worse

I used to hate badly dubbed foreign horror flicks because the voices never matched the lips. Then a friend told me 'the mismatch is part of the charm, it adds to the awkward vibe.' Rant: Watching 'The Room' with a crowd vs alone is night and day

I finally got around to watching The Room last month after hearing about it for years. I tried it alone first on a random Tuesday night and I was just confused and bored honestly. Then my buddy dragged me to a midnight screening at this old theater in Portland last weekend and holy cow what a difference. The way people say 'so bad it's good' for like any boring movie

I keep seeing folks call movies like 'The Room' or 'Birdemic' classics, but they miss what actually makes a bad movie fun. Last week my friend put on some random straight-to-streaming horror flick and kept laughing at nothing, but it wasn't intentionally bad or even funny, just dull. My neighbor actually convinced me to watch 'Birdemic' again after 5 years

I was over at my neighbor Dave's house last Saturday complaining about how nothing new is fun to watch anymore. He pulled out his dusty DVD of Birdemic and said 'you weren't paying attention the first time, the bad editing IS the point.' He was right. We rewatched it with a group of 4 people and I laughed harder at the wire hangers and bad green screen than I did at any comedy this year. Has anyone else gone back to a movie they hated and suddenly loved it for being terrible?
