My uncle bet me $20 that Plan 9 would be boring and I've never been happier to lose a bet
About 6 months ago my uncle came over for pizza and I put on Plan 9 from Outer Space because I'd heard for years it was the ultimate so bad it's good movie. He rolled his eyes and said I'd be asleep in 20 minutes, and he put a $20 bill on the coffee table to prove it. I took that bet so fast. Twenty minutes in I was wide awake and he had his face in his hands. The flying saucers on strings, the cardboard tombstones, Bela Lugosi's stand-in holding a cape over his face the whole time, we were both crying laughing by the 40 minute mark. He paid up but then made me sit through Manos: The Hands of Fate the next weekend as payback, which was honestly a step too far because that one is just painful. So now I trust his movie picks way more than I trust his trash talk. What's the one bad movie your friends or family swore you'd hate but you ended up loving?
