Talked to a guy at the video store who said "Plan 9 from Outer Space" is actually genius
He said Wood was trying something new with the editing and sets on purpose and now I can't stop seeing it that way, anyone else have a bad movie they started viewing differently after talking to someone?

That whole thing about "a parody of bad movies before parody was even a thing" really got me. I always thought Plan 9 was just a hot mess, something you laughed at for how terrible it was. But now I'm starting to think the guy from the video store had a point. Like, the way Wood frames those plastic tombstones just feels too weird to be an accident. It's like he was making a joke about horror movies that nobody else was in on yet.

Wait, does that guy have a point though? I mean, I always thought "Plan 9" was just a big mess but now that you mention it, the way Wood cuts between scenes with that weird flooring and the obvious sets, it kinda feels like he's breaking film rules on purpose. I got this from a friend about "The Room" like how Wiseau uses those weird green screens and bad acting to make you feel like you're in a dream or something, it totally changed how I watch it. And with "Plan 9" the whole monotone narration and those random cuts almost seem like a parody of bad movies before parody was even a thing. Honestly, I bet Ed Wood was messing with us more than people give him credit for, he just did it so badly it took 60 years for anyone to notice.
