Vent: The time I realized I was watching bad movies wrong

I used to fast forward through the boring parts to get to the laughable moments, but last month during a screening of The Room with my buddies in Denver, they yelled at me to stop skipping the scenes that made no sense. Now I let every awkward pause and terrible line play out, and honestly the experience is way more fun that way. Anyone else ever catch yourself ruining a bad movie by trying to edit it on the fly?

Right? My buddy lectured me for the same thing during Troll 2.

Did he actually try to give you a full breakdown of the mistakes in that movie? My friend would pause the film every five minutes to explain why the corn scene was unrealistic. Like, buddy, we are watching a movie where a ghost makes a lady eat a corn on the cob until she turns into a plant. I don't think realism is the biggest issue here. Appreciating bad movies is a whole different skill, and not everyone gets it.
