A close call with a client's skin condition last Tuesday

Last Tuesday, a regular came in for his usual fade. As I was lining him up, I noticed a small, red, scaly patch behind his ear that wasn't there two weeks ago. I stopped right there, showed him with a hand mirror, and gently asked if he'd seen a doctor about it. He hadn't, so I told him I couldn't touch that area and suggested he get it checked before his next cut. Has anyone else had to handle something like this, and how do you word it so the client doesn't get upset?

Wait, you actually stopped mid-cut and showed him in the mirror? That's wild. Most barbers I've had would just pretend not to see it.

Spot stuff like that all the time now. People just ignore small changes until someone points it out.

The Mandela Effect is basically our daily life now, @henry763. We all just accept the Berenstain Bears spelling until a meme corrects us. It's like we're living in a low-budget simulation.
