Blew $180 on a 'cordless' clipper setup that dies mid fade at 20 minutes
Back in my day a good Wahl Oster ran all day on one charge, but I bought into the new lightweight lithium hype at a trade show in Dallas and now I'm standing there with a half finished taper asking the guy in my chair to wait while I swap batteries, so what are you all actually running that holds a charge through a full Saturday?
The battery swap mid fade is the worst, nothing kills the vibe faster than a client watching you fumble with a little plastic pack. What saved me was going back to a corded clipper for the bulk work and keeping the lithium for detail only, so the battery never has to carry a full cut. If you want to stay cordless, grab two extra batteries and a fast charger and just rotate them on the counter so you always have a fresh one ready. Also check if your clipper has a swappable battery model, some of the newer ones let you hot swap without losing the blade position. A full Saturday is a lot to ask from one charge, so plan for two batteries minimum even on the good setups.
Bruh the mental image of a client just sitting there watching you wrestle a tiny plastic brick while half their head is faded is too real. It's like performing surgery and stopping to change the batteries in the little pen light. Two fresh ones on the counter is the move for sure, plus a corded backup so you're never the guy holding up a mirror with one hand and a charger with the other.
