Blew a fuse mid fade on my last client of the night
I had a rough one last night at my chair. It was about 7:45pm, I was finishing up a skin fade on a regular, and right when I went to hit the back of his neck with the trimmer, the whole shop went dark. Just the clippers and the trimmer died, not the lights, so I figured it was a breaker. Turns out my Oster Fast Feed and my Wahl both tripped the same outlet and killed the strip I had everything plugged into. I stood there with half a fade done and a guy in the cape staring at me in the mirror. I ended up grabbing my backup cordless and finishing the cut by the light of my phone, which was not my best work but he was cool about it. The real kicker is I had been meaning to swap that old power strip out for like a month but kept putting it off. So now I am asking, what do you all run for your station power setup so this never happens again?
My buddy had almost the same thing happen, he was halfway through a buzz cut when his whole strip died and he finished it with a cordless in the dark too. What he ended up doing was splitting his stuff across two outlets on different breakers, so the clippers and the trimmer never pull from the same one. He also got a strip with a built in breaker that pops back instead of frying, which cost him like twenty bucks and saved his butt twice since.
