Chose between a $40 Wahl cordless and a $120 Andis corded for my new chair, and I'm second guessing myself

I went with the cheap Wahl to save cash while I build up my book at the shop in Riverside, and now it drags on thick hair during my third cut of the day. The corded Andis never bogged down but that cord was always in my way. Anyone here run a cheap cordless for a while and figure out a fix, or did I just waste $40?
