Clipper vs. scissor finish on coarse hair, clipper won by an hour

I had a regular come in last Thursday with the thickest, coarsest hair I've seen in 12 years of cutting. I've always been a scissor guy for finishes, told myself it gives a sharper line. Spent 45 minutes doing a scissor-over-comb blend on his crown and nape. It looked fine in the chair but he texted me a photo later that night and the whole back was sticking out like a hedgehog. Brought him back in the next morning, switched to my clippers with a 1.5 guard open, then closed, and did the whole fade in 20 minutes. The blend was cleaner, the lines held tighter, and he said it felt way lighter. Now I'm second-guessing every scissor finish I've done on coarse guys. Has anyone else switched their go-to for a specific hair type and never looked back?
