Had a chat with a retiring barber that made me rethink my clipper blades

This old timer, been cutting hair for 42 years at this shop downtown, said he only sharpens his blades twice a year. I was like wait, I send mine out every 6 weeks. He laughed and said most guys over maintain their gear. He showed me his old Oster 76s that still cut like butter with the original blades. Made me realize I'm probably wasting $30 a throw on unnecessary sharpening. Has anyone else tried stretching out their blade maintenance schedule without messing up cuts?

42 years of experience says a lot. I'm gonna try every 3 months now.

You ever try going longer than 3 months @ryan_nguyen? I knew a guy who went 6 months and said it was brutal but his hair came back way thicker. Might be worth trying both and seeing what sticks for you.
