Noticing plastic waste led me to try compostable barber capes
I recently switched to compostable hair capes in my shop. They decompose in just a few months, which is way better for the environment. Clients have been really curious and supportive about the change. What other eco-friendly swaps have you all tried in your shops?

Oh wow, my friend Matt switched to those in his barbershop last month. He said a client actually asked him about it, and when he explained how they break down, just like @wren958 said, the guy was totally into it. Matt even showed him an old one he'd thrown in his compost bin that was already falling apart.

Wait, seriously? They break down that fast? That's way quicker than I imagined those things could decompose. How do they hold up during a haircut without getting soggy?

Can you believe how fast they break down once they're disposed of? @barbarab38, I used to assume they were way more durable too, just like you said. But learning they're made with layers that react differently to water totally changed my mind (it was a real eye-opener). They stay firm during a haircut because only the outside repels moisture, but the inside starts breaking down later in landfill conditions. It's pretty smart how they figured that out, honestly.
