Picked up a trick at the Hair Expo in Chicago last spring that saved my clippers from rusting

Some old-school barber there told me to wipe my blades down with a tiny bit of mineral oil after every shampoo cut, and I haven't had a single spot of rust in 8 months, anyone else use oil like that or just me?

Good for you for finding that trick. I've been a barber for over a decade and I learned that one the hard way after ruining a really nice set of Wahl blades. Mineral oil is the way to go, it doesn't get gummy like some of the specialty sprays and it keeps everything moving smooth. A drop on a paper towel after each shampoo cut has been my routine for years now. It really makes a difference in how long the blades last.

Wait, is rust really that big of a problem for clippers? I've had the same pair for years and never bothered with oil and they're still fine.
