Shoutout to the old timer who told me to ditch the clipper over comb on the sides

I've been cutting for 6 years and always did clipper over comb on the sides out of habit because that's how I was taught. Last month an old barber named Sal who's been cutting for 40 years watched me do a fade and said I was working way too hard. He showed me how to use the guard system with a lever flick to blend the sides in about half the time, and the blend was cleaner than anything I was getting before. I tried it on 4 clients that same day and every single one of them said the fade felt smoother on the skin. I've been doing it his way ever since and I'm saving at least 5 minutes per cut. Any of you still doing clipper over comb on the sides or did you switch to the lever method?
