Spent 45 minutes on a skin fade that should've taken 20, client still said it was the best cut he ever got

I was fighting my clipper guide for ages because I didn't realize the blade was oil-starved and it kept snagging on coarse hair, and by the time I switched to a fresh blade the fade was already blown, but somehow he loved it, so how long did you guys take to figure out plain oil fixes half your problems?

Wait, how long were you cutting before you figured out that oil was the thing keeping your blades from eating coarse hair?
