That $60 clipper blade sharpener actually paid off this week

I was on the fence about buying a professional blade sharpener for months. Finally dropped $60 on one after ruining a good pair of Wahl blades on a dull stone. Saved myself from sending out 3 sets this week and did them in 15 minutes between clients. Any other barbers here sharpen their own or still send them out?

It's funny how once you start doing something yourself, you realize how much money you were just throwing away on convenience. It's the same with oil changes or mowing your own lawn. People act like it's this huge skill, but really it's just time and a one time tool purchase. I bet half the stuff people pay others for, they could figure out in an afternoon with YouTube. Good on you for cutting out the middleman.

Had a neighbor once who paid a guy $50 every two weeks to mow his tiny postage stamp of a lawn. I told him I'd do it for $20 but he said no. He liked the convenience. Then he moved and I inherited his old mower he left behind, still runs fine. Did he even know how to start it?
