Wasted $60 on a cheap clipper guard set, should've known better

Bought a no-name 12 piece guard set off Amazon last month, figured it'd be fine for fade work. Third haircut and the #2 guard cracked right down the middle mid-fade, had to redo the whole side with my backup Wahl guard. Anyone else have luck with those budget multi-packs or is it always a trap?

I've seen people swear by those cheap sets, but cracking on the third use sounds about right.
