Bought a fancy digital thermometer from a brand I saw on TV and it died after two cooks
Spent $85 on a ThermoPro digital probe that was supposed to be the best. The screen just went blank halfway through a 14-hour brisket smoke in my backyard. Had to finish the cook blind and it was super stressful. Anyone know a more reliable brand that can handle the heat?

Maybe you just got a bad unit" - yeah, I used to think that too until my fourth one conked out mid-smoke. I'm convinced ThermoPro thermometers have a secret timer that self-destructs right when your meat hits the stall. I feel your pain on that brisket, I did the exact same thing last summer and ended up eating shoe leather for dinner. My buddy swears by the Thermoworks Smoke though, I've borrowed his a few times and it's held up like a champ through some brutal cooks. Just don't ask me how many times I've dropped mine in the grill trying to prove a point.

Maybe you just got a bad unit, have you tried contacting their support?

Actually I've had three of them fail the same way. Their support just sends a new one that does the same thing after a few weeks.
