Heard a kid at the grocery store ask his dad what a charcoal chimney was

The dad just said 'it's for the grill' and moved on. Made me think about how many little bits of knowledge aren't getting passed down anymore. Anyone have a good, simple way they explain the process to new folks?

My dad taught me it uses newspaper to light charcoal evenly.

Newspaper? @amyr57, my dad would have a fit. He always said the ink and chemicals make the food taste weird, like you're eating a printed coupon. He was a total charcoal chimney guy, swore by those waxy starter cubes. I tried newspaper once and the ash flew everywhere, ruined two good burgers.
