Do you grease the threads on Shimano pedals or leave them dry - 15 years in and I still hear both sides.
My buddy swears by copper anti-seize on his Ultegra set from 2018 and has never had a creak, but another mechanic at the shop last week said grease makes pedals loosen over time, so which camp are you in and has anyone actually had a pedal seize up from going dry after a winter of salt and rain rides?

Read somewhere that dry pedals can creak while greased ones might back off, so pick your poison.

Oh, I've been around the block on this one. A thin film of grease is fine, but the real issue is over-greasing and not torquing to spec. Pedals work loose because of improper installation, not because of a little grease on the threads. I've never had a pedal seize from being dry, but I've seen plenty creak and wear out faster. A quick dab of marine grease before each winter season is my go-to, and it's never caused a problem. The "grease makes pedals loosen" argument is a wives' tale that ignores how threads actually work. Just don't drown the thing and you'll be fine.
