I finally tried wax chain lube instead of drip on a gritty ride in Phoenix last month

I did a 40 mile ride through some nasty gravel sections and my chain was spotless at the end. With my usual wet lube I would have had to scrub off a black paste. The reapplication process is more involved, you have to take the chain off and dip it, but for that one ride it was night and day on cleanliness. Has anyone else found wax holds up better in dry dusty conditions?

Wax is king in the dry stuff. Totally worth the extra effort for a clean drivetrain.

Wait have you tried the molten speed wax? I found it way easier to apply than the dipping method and it lasts just as long in the dry. I was skeptical at first but after a few rides the drivetrain stayed totally quiet and clean. The key for me was letting the wax fully cool and harden before even touching the chain, like a solid 15 minutes at least. It's a little messy to get started but once you figure out the workflow it's nothing.
