Warning: I just read the 2023 shop injury report from the Bicycle Industry Association

It said over 40% of mechanic injuries are from cable ends, not from crashes or heavy tools. I found this in their yearly safety packet that my shop gets. How are you guys handling cable trimming to keep fingers safe?

Oh man, my buddy sliced his thumb open bad last month on a brake cable end. He got one of those little cable end crimpers and won't shut up about it now. Says it's the only way to go.

Has anyone tried using a cheap pair of wire cutters from the hardware store instead?

Park.wyatt is right about those little crimpers. I read in the same BIA packet that shops using basic wire cutters from hardware stores actually had higher injury rates because the cuts were less clean. Those cheap cutters tend to leave jagged edges that catch on your fingers when you're reaching into tight spots.
