Going chapter by chapter with a spreadsheet saved our book club from chaos

My book club was a mess for like 6 months. People would show up having read different amounts, some skipped entire sections, and we spent half the time arguing about what actually happened. I finally threw together a Google Sheet where we each assigned a chapter and wrote down one key question or a weird detail they noticed. Now we start meetings by going down the list and it keeps everyone on the same page. Has anyone else tried something like this to keep discussions on track?
