Had a guy at a garage sale in Toledo spend 20 minutes telling me why my favorite book was trash

I was flipping through a copy of Dune at a garage sale last summer and some older guy walks up and starts telling me how it's overrated and the sequels ruined the series. He went on about how the female characters are flat and Paul is just a chosen one trope. I was just trying to bargain down the price but he kept going. Has anyone else dealt with a random stranger at a sale or event wanting to debate your taste in books?

Maybe he was just lonely and that was his only way to talk to someone.

Yeah you might be right @beth_ward80, I was annoyed at first but after reading your comment I feel bad for the guy. I can see how someone might just want to connect over books, even if they go about it weird.
