Hit 47th book club argument over pacing, now I check page counts first
Our group just had our 47th debate about pacing last Tuesday, and I realized we've argued about it way more than any other topic. It finally clicked when someone brought up a 900 page fantasy novel we picked in June and half the group quit by page 200. For our next pick, I started checking total pages and chapter length before suggesting anything, and it cut our arguments down to almost zero. We picked a 320 page thriller with short chapters and everyone actually finished it for once. Has anyone else tracked their club's repeat arguments and seen a pattern like this?
