Hit 50 books this year somehow

My book club set a goal of 12 for the year and I just realized I'm at 50 as of last night. I started reading during my lunch breaks at work and it just kind of snowballed after I finished a few thrillers in a row. Has anyone else accidentally blown past a reading goal and did it change how you pick your next book?

The lunch break reading is a game changer, I did the same thing last year and ended up at 45 books by accident. @troy_adams is right, it's the best kind of accident because you're just enjoying yourself and the numbers pile up. Once I hit that mark I stopped picking books based on genre or hype and just went with whatever had the shortest hold at the library. It got me into some weird stuff like a 1980s manual on how to garden with no soil and a memoir by a guy who walked across Australia.
