I used to think 'The Great Gatsby' was just about rich people being sad, but our club's talk about the green light changed my mind.

Right? It's amazing how a book can go from boring rich people problems to actually meaning something.

Wasn't it just the worst at first? I totally wrote it off as another stuffy book about fancy problems. But @leoward, you're spot on, something just CLICKS later. It sneaks up on you and suddenly all that boring stuff actually matters to the people in it. The whole point seems to be watching them figure that out too. It makes you look back at the slow start in a totally new way.

Honestly, I never got that click everyone talks about. Tbh I kept waiting for the boring parts to matter more and they just didn't for me. The fancy problems stayed fancy problems the whole way through. Maybe I just don't connect with characters who need that long to figure basic stuff out. It felt like a long wait for a point that never really landed.
