I was totally wrong about audiobooks not counting as reading

I argued for months with my book club that listening to an audiobook wasn't the same as actually reading the pages, but after I had to drive 8 hours to Cleveland last week and tried "Project Hail Mary" on Audible, I completely changed my mind. The narrator's performance added so much emotion and depth that I actually remembered more details than when I read the paperback version. Has anyone else in here had a similar flip where a format you dismissed ended up winning you over?

Honestly @nathanb71, who cares if your brain processes it visually or not? You're still getting the story, the characters, the whole point of the book. It's like saying you didn't really watch a movie because you saw it on a laptop instead of a theater screen... the experience is different but the content is the same. Maybe the real problem is people just like feeling superior about how they consume things. I used to be the same way but then I realized I was just being stubborn for no reason. Reading is reading... unless you're counting pages for a grade, it really doesn't matter.
