Just realized my book club hated my pick because I ignored the page count
I picked a 450 page novel for our monthly meeting. Thought it would be a deep hit. Three people showed up and nobody finished the book. The host finally told me our group caps picks at 300 pages max. Now I always check the length before suggesting anything. How do your clubs handle book length limits?

My friend Sarah did something similar with her true crime book club. She picked a 500 page cold case deep dive thinking everyone would be obsessed. Only two people finished it and the rest just googled the ending during the meeting. The group chat afterwards was brutal, people were saying they had to skip their other reading just to keep up. Now she always makes sure to check if a book has more than 350 pages before she suggests it at all.

Made my fantasy league read a 600 page sci-fi book as a joke. Never again, total disaster.
