Just realized our book club spends more time fighting over page counts than the actual book
Last month at our meeting in Dana's kitchen, a retired teacher named Ruth said something that stuck with me. She asked why we keep picking 500 page doorstops when half the group admits they skim the last 100 pages just to finish on time. She suggested we try a short novel under 200 pages for once, and the room went quiet because she was clearly right. Now I can't stop noticing how we judge a pick by its size first and its story second. Does your group have an unspoken page limit, or is it just mine?
